12-year-old girl tries to rob store at gunpoint; workers thought hoax when ‘tween pointed 9mm

A 12-year-old girl was arrested for trying to rob a convenience store at gunpoint.

A 12-year-old girl was arrested at aMichigan convenience store after she walked in, pointed a loaded gun at an employee behind the counter and demanded cash.

An employee at the Country Lake Food Center in Highland, Mich., told 911 dispatchers she thought the pre-teen thief was just playing an imaginary game of “Cops and Robbers.”

“She pointed a gun to me. I thought it was a joke at first,” the unidentified employee said on the 911 call.

The girl was wearing a scarf over her face and black clothes, witnesses told Detroit‘sWJBX television.

Eventually, the employee said, she grabbed the girl’s arm, while another worker pinned her to the floor. The pint-sized perp could be heard crying in the background of the 911 call.

Cops said the girl stole the 9mm handgun from a neighbor’s house.

The girl was charged as a juvenile with armed robbery and was being held at a children’s detention center. She could also face charges for stealing the gun, cops said.

Sources said the girl may have family problems. A spokesman from the Oakland County sheriff’s office said the girl’s parents were going through a divorce.

“That’s pretty incredible, someone that young starting out like this,” one shopper told WJBX. “That’s not very good.”

Couple Sue Applebee’s for Giving Toddler Alcohol

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) – A Detroit-area couple have sued the Applebee’s restaurant chain after their toddler was mistakenly given a small amount of alcohol instead of apple juice.

The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press say Taylor Dill-Reese and Dominic Wilson sued in Oakland County Circuit Court after their 15-month-old son Dominic Jr. consumed alcohol Friday at the Madison Heights location.

Dominic was examined by doctors, and the family was told the child’s blood alcohol level was 0.10 percent. That’s over the legal limit for an adult driver.

The lawsuit says he felt ill. The family seeks money for emotional distress and medical expenses.

A message was left Wednesday for an Applebee’s spokeswoman.

Applebee’s says it will start pouring children’s juice from single-serve containers at the table.
