Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival, Cortland Repertory Theatre and Hangar Theatre will hold the first Central New York auditions weekend for their 2012 seasons on January 28th and 29th from 10am to 6pm, providing actors and actresses with the opportunity to audition for four theatres in two days. Over 200 paid acting roles will be available.

WHEN:  Saturday, January 28th and Sunday, January 29th from 10am to 6pm

• AEA Member by appointment; all others as time permits on a first come, first serve basis.

• Non-AEA auditionees must be signed in by 1pm

WHERE: Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival will hold their local auditions at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse located at 6877 East Lake Rd (Rt. 38A) in Emerson Park on Owasco Lake in Auburn, NY 13021. 

Auditionees should bring a current picture and updated resume and prepare a brief monologue.  Please prepare 16 measures of an up tempo song and 16 measures of a ballad.  An accompanist will be provided, so please provide sheet music.  Auditionees may be asked to read from provided scripts and/or attend a dance call.  Dancers, please bring appropriate clothing and footwear, including taps.

The new Broadway production of Cole Porter’s shipboard musical comedy Anything Goes, which launched as a limited run through July, will cruise longer than expected — to January 2012. Enthusiastic reviews helped fuel the extended voyage.

Roundabout Theatre Company announced the new block of tickets (to Jan. 8, 2012) on its Twitter feed @RTC_NYC and on Facebook at 4 PM on April 13.

Anything Goes stars Tony Award winner Sutton Foster as Reno Sweeney and Tony and Academy Award winner Joel Grey as Moonface Martin, and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall.

This revised revival of the 1934 musical, with songs by Cole Porter, opened April 7 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre at 124 W. 43rd Street. It was originally scheduled to run through July 31.

The score includes “You’re the Top,” “It’s De-lovely,” “Friendship,” “Easy to Love,” “All Through the Night,” “Blow, Gabriel, Blow” and more.

Lucky theatre goers in Auburn will not have to travel to Broadway to view the extended run of Anything Goes. The acclaimed show opens the Merry Go Round Playhouse in June. Further information is available on their website at www.merry-go-round.com
